The Edmonton Oilers made a significant roster shift on Friday, completing a multipiece deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins that reshaped both clubs’ depth charts.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry and forward Samuel Poulin were acquired by Edmonton, while Pittsburgh received goaltender Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick.
Jarry arrives after appearing in 14 games for Pittsburgh this season, producing a 9-3-1 record with a 2.66 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.
The goalie's early run included five wins in his first six starts and a 31-save shutout against the San Jose Sharks. The move ends Jarry’s decade-long Penguins tenure, during which he played 307 games and earned two All-Star selections.

Edmonton also found a way to add some defensive depth, acquiring Spencer Stastney from the Nashville Predators in a separate trade in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick. Stastney played 30 games this season for Nashville, averaging nearly 15 minutes per night and scoring nine points.
Poulin, a former first-round pick, joins the Oilers after five seasons in the Penguins organization. His production in the AHL included 64 goals and 71 assists across 207 games, along with 15 career NHL appearances and two this season.
The Oilers’ season-long struggles in goal to start this campaign, along with last season’s postseason issues, forced Edmonton to make this move.
Skinner’s playoff performance had him averaging a .861 save percentage against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final and a .889 SV% through 15 starts in net throughout the postseason.
This season, Edmonton’s tandem of Skinner and Calvin Pickard has combined for an .879 mark through 31 games. With no internal solution available, the Oilers pursued Jarry for several weeks and ultimately pulled the trigger on Friday.
Edmonton faces the Toronto Maple Leafs next, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. ET on Saturday.
