Struggling Edmonton Oilers forward Trent Frederic has found his way to the press box.
With the news that Jack Roslovic is set to return from injury against the Vegas Golden Knights Sunday night, Frederic is a healthy scratch.
Meanwhile, head coach Kris Knoblauch said in his pre-game media availability that Tristan Jarry will be out for a few weeks. He left Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins with a lower-body injury. Connor Ingram will make his Oilers debut after Calvin Pickard started on Saturday in St. Paul.
“He’s going to be out a couple of weeks,” said Knoblauch of Jarry. “We won’t see him until the new year at some point.”
The Oilers already confirmed that after a three-game stint, Quinn Hutson has been loaned back to Bakersfield.
Curtis Lazar and Alex Regula are set to draw into the lineup tonight. Lazar missed two recent games against the Bruins and Minnesota Wild after leaving a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins last Tuesday. Regula has been battling illness, forcing him out of action for two games. Riley Stillman likely draws out.
Tonight will be the first time Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, and Jack Roslovic are all in the lineup, highlighting the various injury issues the Oilers have faced this season.
Roslovic was activated from LTIR on Sunday morning and while he hasn’t played since Nov. 25, he has been dynamite since his signing. This season, he’s scored 10 goals and 8 assists in 23 games.
Frederic has played all 36 games this season, but scored just two goals and one assist. Despite signing an eight-year contract in the off-season, he’s struggled to find his game.
Jarry was pulled from the Bruins game on Thursday and returned to Edmonton to get evaluated.
The NHL is currently on a roster freeze until 12:01 a.m. local time on Dec. 28, not allowing for any trades.
Puck drop against the Golden Knights is set for 6:00 PM MT.
