The Edmonton Oilers are currently in their first 5 game losing streak in years, and owner Daryl Katz is reportedly making his feelings known to management.

The Oilers owner has recently been in the news for seeing a major boom in his personal wealth, as well as the franchise value, which should give the team a big advantage in the future.

Oilers owner reportedly running hot, calling management daily

According to recent radio reports from NHL insider Darren Dreger, Daryl Katz is reportedly frequently calling into Oilers management.

Darren Dreger says Daryl Katz runs hot (lol) and calls Jeff Jackson, Stan Bowman 20 times a day

With the Oilers on their first 5 game losing skid since the 2021-22 season, Katz's close involvement has to be a sign he's not thrilled with the results from this season. He may be making his feelings known there needs to be an upgrade at the trade deadline.

When owners start getting involved in team decisions is when problems can occur. It's good to hear that Katz is personally invested in the team's success, but hopefully it's just checking in on the status of potential moves - not putting pressure for particular players.

There shouldn't be too much panic about the Oilers, even if they're one a recent losing skid. Connor McDavid has had a down season, but there's no doubt that he'll flip a switch come game 1 of the playoffs.

However, there may be some real disappointment if the Oilers can't pull off a division win and secure home ice advantage through the playoffs this season.

Expectations for the Oilers were sky high after their incredible playoff run, and they haven't quite met them yet. There's still time to prove they are different come the playoffs.
