Bad news for Cole Caufield and Lane Hutson.
The Americans, who unveiled their Olympic roster for men’s hockey this morning, didn’t see fit to select the two Habs players for the Games.
It was expected, but now it’s been announced.

In reality, we don’t know how far down the list the guys are on the replacement list in case of injury (the question especially arises for Caufield)… but right now, they’re not in the club.
Here’s the American line-up, for those wondering who will be representing the country.

One has to wonder how much the Americans might regret their choice in the case of Caufield, who is a pure scorer. Scoring is the hardest thing to do in the NHL.
Hutson also has a lot of talent, but the presence of Quinn Hughes has always made Hutson’s candidacy less sexy in the eyes of American executives.
Nick Suzuki will be representing Canada. He’ll have one less vacation than his friends— as will Juraj Slafkovsky and Alexandre Texier for the Slovaks and the French.
