Here's a list of notable events on January 19 in Chicago Blackhawks history.
Two days after the United States executed Operation Desert Storm, the NHL All-Star Game went on as planned on January 19, 1991. Chicago Stadium played host to the event, which became famous for its pregame festivities instead of the game on the ice.
As Wayne Messmer belted out the National Anthem, the Chicago crowd's tradition of cheering during the song became deafening. Many fans in attendance displayed banners and signs with patriotic messages to show support for U.S. troops.
