Here are the three takeaways from Saturday’s 7-2 win:
Head coach Marco Strum had to make some lineup changes with some players either being called up or dealing with a minor injury. One of those moves was moving up Tyler Madden from the second line to the first line. Madden took Austin Wagner’s spot on the first line as he missed last night’s game and the trio of him, Lias Andersson, and TJ Tynan did all the damage for the Ontario Reign.

Lias Andersson opened the scoring at 4:55 and would go on to finish the night with four points (2 G – 2 A). It was his second straight game with two goals and is in the midst of a seven-game point streak, having 12 points in that span. TJ Tynan also had himself a four-point night, recording four assists. It was his third career four-assist game and his second one in a week’s span. Lastly, Tyler Madden chipped in with two goals on the man advantage and an assist. The trio combined for 11 points and led the way for Ontario in their dominating win.
The Ontario Reign gave the San Diego Gulls a different look on the power play last night. TJ Tynan, usually in the right faceoff circle or the right half-wall, was moved to the red line, the right of goaltenders Olle Eriksson Ek and Lukas Dostal. Lias Andersson moved from the red line to the right circle as he and Tynan swapped spots. It paid off as Tyler Madden potted two power-play goals in front of the net off of two scrambles.

The Reign went two-for-two on the night and perhaps may use this setup on the power play against the Calgary Wranglers tonight to give them a different look.
There’s always roster turnover during the season in the AHL. Every year AHL teams have to deal with roster transactions due to their big clubs dealing with injuries. The Ontario Reign are in the midst of that as well as minor injuries to their players. Alex Turcotte, Samuel Fagemo, and Tobias Bjornfot have all been recalled to the Kings and the Reign have been shuffling their lineup.
Warmup line rushes for the @ontarioreign in SD –

That’s quite the turnover from their opening night lineup. The Reign are going to need several players to contribute as Andersson, Tynan, and Spence can’t do all the scoring. Last night was a good start as Jacob Moverare had two points, Aidan Dudas had an assist, Alan Quine had a goal, and Taylor Ward had an assist. They will need more of that tonight against Calgary.
