Ottawa Senators Extend Fabian Zetterlund

The Ottawa Senators saw their season come to an end with a first-round series loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs in six games. The Senators finished the regular season with 97 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division, which was their best finish in the division since 2016-17 when they finished second. This morning, they extended forward Fabian Zetterlund to a three-year extension for $12.825 million, which is a $4.275 million AAV.

Ottawa acquired Zetterlund from the San Jose Sharks on March 7th, along with a fourth-round draft pick and Tristen Robins. The Senators traded a second-round draft pick, Noah Gregor, and Zack Ostapchuk to San Jose. Zetterlund, in 20 games with Ottawa, had five points on two goals and three assists. He was a minus-one and had one power-play goal. Zetterlund finished the season playing in 84 games, recording 41 points on 19 goals and 22 assists. He was a plus-seven and had seven power-play points between the two teams.

Fabian Zetterlund

Zetterlund was drafted 63rd overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. In 247 games, he has recorded 116 points on 52 goals and 64 assists. He is a career -28 and has 26 power-play points with 12 of those coming via goals. The Devils traded Zetterlund to San Jose on February 26, 2023, in a trade centered around Timo Meier.
