Ottawa Senators on the verge of relocation

Overall, the Ottawa Senators have been playing at the Canadian Tire Center since 1996, however, there have been numerous complaints about the arena's location.

Some suggest that the arena is in the middle of nowhere and that it isn't easily accessible to the average fan. Consequently, the location of the arena has been a scapegoat for attendance numbers and additional revenue. The National Capital Commission and the Senators have been trying to vie for a new arena and they want to build it in LaBreton Flats near Parliament.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, a deal on a piece of land near LaBreton Flats seems closer than ever. With the lease agreement deadlines coming up, it is expected that the Senators could announce a deal this week. Having said that, there is still a lot of work to be done following such a deal.

The team then has to build the arena and make sure it is ready in time for whatever goal they set. According to some sources on X, the arena could be ready by 2030, which means the Senators will be stuck at the Canadian Tire Center for another six years, minimum.

Only time will tell whether or not a new arena deal goes through or not. For now, it seems like a pretty decent idea. An arena that is in the downtown core of Ottawa will probably do wonders for business. However, building these arenas is a lot easier said than done.
