There's just three NHL games tonight, which makes finding our favorite spot all the more straightforward. We're drawn to the New York Rangers in this one, and one player in particular stands out.
The Rangers look great for 33+ shots considering the Detroit Red Wings are allowing 33.3 shots/game on the road and New York has pretty steadily been in the 32-27 range over the years against the Red Wings.
With Detroit handing out nearly four power-play opportunities/game over the last 20 days, I'd like a piece of some power-play shooters. Vincent Trocheck is leading the Rangers with nine PP shots in his last 10 games, but there's plenty more beyond that that has made this a play for me.
Trocheck has nine SOG on 14 attempts in his past two games, and at home he's over 2.5 in four of his last five with 6+ attempts each time. Against Detroit, Trocheck is over in two of his last three, with six attempts in four of his last five meetings. I really like those attempt numbers.
When Trocheck sees 6+ attempts, he's over 2.5 SOG in 45 of his last 56 games, for a hit-rate of 80%.
I'm tacking on a goal because despite these two recent big shooting games, he has no goals to show for it. He's scored three goals in his last two games vs. Detroit.
Good luck tonight!
