Panthers' AJ Greer Sparks Controversy with Nasty Chant Geared at the Oilers After Cup Win

The Panthers players were partying at Elbo Room after their Stanley Cup win, and AJ Greer sparked controversy with a very uncalled-for chant geared at the Oilers.

The Stanley Cup was once again at the beach Wednesday morning, and so was the party. The Florida Panthers celebrated their second consecutive championship in South Florida fashion, bringing the Cup to the landmark Elbo Room on Fort Lauderdale Beach around 8:30 a.m.

There were hundreds of fans in the streets early, eager to party. Players showed up with the trophy, dunking it in beer and pouring it into the crowd.

All that was lacking was a duplication of last year's Cup plunge into the sea, a minor letdown for those who had been anticipating some sort of sequel to that iconic moment.

The Panthers wrapped up the title Tuesday night with a 5-1 thrashing of the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. With back-to-back championships now in hand, South Florida is officially a hockey town.

AJ Greer went off on the Oilers with some vulgar language

Not every headline, though, was of beer and triumph. AJ Greer caused a stir when he grabbed the microphone at the Elbo Room and shouted 'F*** the Oilers!' to a crowd hungry for more.

The video went viral within seconds and is questionable, with some calling it classless and others claiming it's all just part of the party.

The party continued until around 12:20 p.m., when players began to leave by golf carts, only to find themselves stuck in traffic on the Las Olas Bridge. Undeterred, they kept the party going, posing for photos with fans and holding the Cup in the air.

The team will be honored with a formal victory parade in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday night.
