It’s not clear how Lundell, 25, sustained the injury. He had 16:54 of ice time in Florida’s 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday.

Lundell has four goals and two assists for six points, averaging 17:41 of ice time in 16 games with the Panthers in 2026-27. He’s in the third season of a six-year, $30-million contract signed ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Now in his sixth NHL season, the Finnish center has 82 goals and 125 assists for 207 points in 375 career regular-season games. He also has 12 goals and 34 assists for 46 points in 77 career playoff games, and was a major contributor during Florida’s back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 2024 and 2025.

Taken No. 12 overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Lundell spent three seasons with HIFK Helsinki in the top Finnish men’s league, where he would score 35 goals and 37 assists for 72 points in 108 regular-season games.

The Panthers are 9-5-2 with 20 points through their first 16 games of 2026-27. Matthew Tkachuk leads the way in assists and points with 18 and 22, respectively. Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Reinhart are tied for the team lead in goals with nine, while Seth Jones anchors the blue line with three goals and 16 assists for 19 points.

Akira Schmid, who will get the start Saturday against the Capitals, is 5-2-1 with an .889 save percentage (SV%) and 2.86 goals against average (GAA) through eight appearances. As for Jacob Markstrom, the 36-year-old netminder is 4-2-1 with an .885 SV% and 2.57 GAA in eight games.
