Panthers Reveal Major Injury Update on Sam Reinhart

The Florida Panthers will be looking to end the Eastern Conference Final in Game 4, sending them back to the Stanley Cup Final. But the team will be forced to play the contest without star forward Sam Reinhart.

Reinhart has been out due to a lower-body injury since Game 2 of the series. Florida looked just fine without him in Game 3, and the team likely doesn't want to rush him back before he is fully ready.

The veteran is listed as day-to-day for now. Panthers head coach Paul Maurice provided an update on the status of Reinhart.

“We are hopeful that it’s not long term, and I mean he is day to day and I don’t think it’s going to move out that way," Maurice said of Reinhart on Sunday. "He still has to get back on the ice. There are some steps here.”

Reinhart has been a big piece to the overall success of the Panthers this season. The veteran has scored four goals and seven assists in 14 playoff games this year.

He also led the Panthers during the regular season with 39 goals and finished the season as a finalist for the Frank J. Selke Trophy. The hope is that he won't need to miss too much more time, but the Panthers do have the luxury of allowing him time to rest.

Florida will be looking to get back to the Stanley Cup Final for the third straight season if it can win Game 4. Game 4 between the two teams is set for 8 p.m. ET on Monday.
