Jonathan Toews is set to return to the NHL for the first time since 2023 this season with Winnipeg, and long-time teammate Patrick Kane has a message for him.

After two seasons away from the NHL, Jonathan Toews is set to make his long awaited return in 2025/26 with his hometown Winnipeg Jets, a very popular move in Manitoba.

He joins the 2024/25 No. 1 seed in the Western Conference, and with the team looking to finally make a deep run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the organization is hoping that Toews can be the missing piece they were seeking.

Patrick Kane excited for his long-time teammates return to the NHL

Toews' return was a topic at the NHL's recent media tour in Las Vegas, with former long-time teammate Patrick Kane having nothing but good things to say about him, noting that he's happy to see him back on the ice.

'I think it's awesome. Obviously with what he's been through, to be able to put himself in a position to come back and be feeling good, I think that's the most important thing.

It could be really a great story for the NHL and for the franchise and for him and his family. So I'm excited about watching him.'

This should come as no surprise given how long these two played together, and with all the success they managed to achieve, winning three Stanley Cup's together as members of the Blackhawks, they clearly became very close.

The two are likely to meet on the ice at some point this season, but given that they're now in opposite conferences, it's great to see the two veterans wishing the best for one another as they enter the final few years of their NHL careers.
