Paul Bissonnette's Four-Word Reaction to Brad Marchand's Birthday Post

Brad Marchand joined the Florida Panthers in a midseason trade from the Boston Bruins and has become a key player in the second-round playoff series between the Panthers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Although the veteran failed to notch a point in Game 4, Marchand scored at least one point in the first three games of the series, assisting two goals in Game 1 before scoring one goal in each of Games 2 and 3.

Florida is covering half of Marchand’s salary as part of the move, with the veteran winger expected to become a free agent after the postseason.

The Panthers celebrated Brad Marchand’s 37th birthday with a short message on X ahead of Game 4, posting, “HBD Marchy.”

Longtime Marchand foe Paul Bissonnette lost no time in making his feelings known about the celebratory post.

The former NHL enforcer and now outspoken analyst — and Maple Leafs superfan — fired off a blunt reply on Sunday: “Oh for Christ’s sake.”

The four-word post wasn't the first time Bissonnette has taken aim at Marchand and the Panthers. At the start of the month, ahead of the start of the Maple Leafs-Panthers series, Bissonnette warned Florida.

“Now it's on to Goliath, the Florida Panthers, and we have unfinished business with you,” Bissonnette said.

“My arch (expletive) nemesis,” Bissonnette said about Marchand. “I'm going to take you down, once and for all. You hear me, Brad!? You’re going down, buddy. Put the war paint on because it’s our time. It’s our year."

Marchand and the Panthers tied the series 2-2 with a 2-0 shutout win in Game 4 thanks to Sergei Bobrovsky backstopping Florida to a 23-save outing while Carter Verhaeghe and Sam Bennett scored the goals.

Game 5 of the Eastern Conference second-round series between Toronto and Florida is set for puck-drop at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
