Matthew Tkachuk suffered a tough injury during the Four Nations Face Off, and now Florida Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice has given an update.

Team USA dropped the Four Nations Finale in dramatic fashion on Thursday night, and one of the biggest reasons behind the defeat were injuries, with Matthew Tkachuk playing little game time due to his injury.

Brother Brady gave an update on his status after the game, and things looked fairly bleak for the Florida Panthers star, with the expectation being that he would miss some time.

Now, Panthers coach Paul Maurice has given an official update, noting that for now he's considered day-to-day, with the team likely to have a much bigger update in the coming days.

"Give him day to day, and then I'll give you a pretty good update in the next couple days.'

Following up from that, the veteran Head Coach revealed that whether it's a serious injury or not, Tkachuk is likely to have a rest in the coming days, and with the Panthers having a star studded roster around him, they can afford him to miss at least one or two games.

"I'll probably have a better handle on it Saturday, but not a final one. My expectation is that we're gonna give him some rest no matter what, and then we'll get a handle on it."

For now though, it seems like it's not a significant enough injury for Tkachuk to be out long term, which is fantastic news for the Panthers and the NHL, especially given the way that he brought eyes to the game with his play over the course of the tournament, so we will have further updates when they come in.
