Pittsburgh Penguins veteran Bryan Rust has been included in recent trade rumors, and he's been suggested as a possibility to join Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers have already lost several forwards to both free agency and trades, including Corey Perry, who signed with the Los Angeles Kings, Connor Brown, who signed with the New Jersey Devils, and Viktor Arvidsson, who was traded to the Boston Bruins.
The Oilers would be wise to try and maximize their chances to once again put themselves in the best position possible to compete for the Stanley Cup to make superstar captain Connor McDavid want to agree to a long-term extension with the club.
While the Oilers have already signed former Washington Capitals forward Andrew Mangiapane (who also previously played with the divisional foe Calgary Flames), another notable name has been suggested as a possibility.
NHL analyst Darren Dreger recently said Pittsburgh Penguins veteran forward Bryan Rust could be of interest to the Oilers.

Rust remains under contract with the Penguins for another 3 years with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,125,000. However, his name has popped up in multiple trade rumors along with fellow forward Rickard Rakell, both of whom could potentially be moved by Pittsburgh general manager Kyle Dubas.
Rust is also coming off a career-best year in which he had 65 points (31G, 34A). A potential addition of Rust would give the Oilers valuable Stanley Cup-winning experience, as he helped the Penguins win back to back titles in 2016 and 2017.
He has 437 points (203G, 234A) in 638 games, all with the Penguins.
