The Pittsburgh Penguins continued their homestand on Tuesday with a matchup against the Edmonton Oilers, new Pens goaltender Stuart Skinner's former team.
The 27-year-old made his first appearance since arriving from Edmonton as part of last week’s goalie swap involving Tristan Jarry, stepping into a game that featured all of his former teammates.
Skinner noted earlier in the day that the timing couldn't have been more interesting for a debut in a game that ultimately became the stage for a milestone from one of those former teammates.
Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl reached 1,000 career points with an assist during a first-period power play, bagging the helper against his former teammate and ending the game with four assists.

Skinner addressed the moment after the game, acknowledging Draisaitl's greatness and his accolade.
"Whenever anyone gets 1,000 points, you’re going to congratulate them, but I would’ve rather it not be on me," Skinner said. "It’s a little bittersweet. I was his teammate for a long time and obviously he’s a great player and makes things happen every single night. Congratulations to him."
Skinner also described the experience of playing his former club so soon after the trade, in his first game for his new team on top of everything.
"It was definitely different," Skinner said. "Super weird, like taking a nap and thinking that I’m playing the old team." He added that the chance to join a new organization still felt meaningful. "The dream was to be in the NHL, and here I am going to another incredible organization. I’m very fortunate."
Skinner finished with 17 saves in his debut and the Penguins fell 6–4, extending their winless stretch to six. Pittsburgh next faces the Ottawa Senators on Thursday, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. ET.
