Broz was initially taken by the Penguins in the second round, 58th overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft. He was a talented player in junior hockey with the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League before finding success at the collegiate level with the University of Denver.
The Bloomington, Minn. native was one of the team’s top scorers on a Pioneer team that won the NCAA Tournament during the 2023-24 season. Along with earning All-Tournament honors, Broz scored 16 goals and 24 assists for 40 points in 43 games.
Last year, his first season with Pittsburgh’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Broz notched 19 goals and 37 points in 59 games. He’s had a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign, notching eight goals and five assists for 13 points in 18 games, delivering three multi-point efforts.
Broz’s efforts earned him a call-up to the big club, as the Pens sent Harrison Brunicke and Jack St. Ivany down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for conditioning purposes.
In 77 AHL regular-season games, Broz has scored 27 goals and 23 assists for 50 points, with another three points in four Calder Cup Playoff games.
The Penguins (10-6-5) currently sit fifth in the Metropolitan Division, one point out of a Wild Card spot.
