The Predators have made a roster move in advance of their game tonight against Dallas. The team announced that they’ve recalled goaltender Matt Murray from AHL Milwaukee.
The 28-year-old has played in four career NHL contests, all coming with Dallas between 2022-23 and 2023-24. He has had some success in those appearances, winning two while posting a 2.53 GAA and a .885 SV%.
Murray is in his third season in Nashville’s organization but despite a handful of recalls, has yet to see action with them. He played in 47 games with the Admirals last season, putting up a 2.83 GAA and a .904 SV%. Over parts of six AHL campaigns, Murray has a 2.52 GAA and a .913 SV% in 161 contests.
Nick Kieser of Lower Broad Pucks relays (Twitter link) that backup goaltender Justus Annunen was at the rink yesterday but did not take part in practice. That suggests that Murray is being recalled as an insurance policy in case Annunen – who is believed to be sick – is unable to dress for tonight’s game.
Prior to the recall, Nashville had one open roster spot so no further roster moves needed to be made to add Murray to the roster.
