Canada TV: Prime (Canada)

Time: 8:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

It’s another Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions. We’ve got the first matchup of the season between the Anaheim Ducks and the Edmonton Oilers. Anaheim is coming into this game with a 7-3 record in their previous 10 games. However, Anaheim has reeled seven consecutive victories to insert itself back into the Stanley Cup Playoff conversation.

The Oilers are coming off a wild 6-5 victory over the Washington Capitals in the late game of Hockey Night in Canada. Evan Boucard registered three goals and three assists for six points in that overtime win.

Let’s take a look at the statistics and storylines in this Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL Predictions.

The Ducks Story

Anaheim was struggling to find its way under Joel Quennevile in his first season in charge. However, the young roster has seemingly found its rhythm under the decorated head coach. The Ducks have plenty of young talent and they are starting to realize their potential.

Ville Husso is the projected starter for the Ducks but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Husso is 6-4-1 with a 2.82 goals-against-average and .888 save percentage.

Cutter Gauthier leads the team in goals (23) and points (46) so far this campaign for Anaheim. Leo Carlsson is first on the team in assists with 26, but he is out injured.

The Oilers Story

Edmonton is 5-3-2 in its previous 10 games but did beat Washington in that high-scoring affair. That late game proved that Bouchard could put up points with even the best offensive players on the team.

Tristian Jarry is expected to get the start, and he’s done well since returning to his old stomping grounds. Jarry has a 14-5-2 record with a 2.54 GAA and .900 save percentage between Edmonton and the Pittsburgh Penguins. The former Edmonton Oil Kings goalie also has a pair of shutouts so far this campaign.

Connor McDavid is once again proving why he’s one of the best players in the world with 32 goals and 58 assists for 90 points so far this season. Leon Draisaitl returned from a personal matter in Germany and already has 70 points this season.

Prediction

Anaheim is coming into this matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league. However, Edmonton is a solid 13-8-4 at Rogers Place so far this campaign.

The goaltending edge should help out the Oilers as well. Husso has been serviceable, but Jarry gives Edmonton just enough to stop Anaheim’s streak.

Prediction: Oilers win 4-2.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out this Monday Night Hockey on Prime edition of NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for the Ducks versus the Oilers is 6.5, and we like the under in this game.

As for individual props, take Troy Terry to get at least an assist for Anaheim. On the Edmonton side of things, take Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to get an anytime goal.
