The terms of the deal have yet to be released.
Some of Lamb’s best attributes stem from his versatility as an offensive weapon. While he has a strong shot coming off the right wing, he also has great vision and hands that help him set up his teammates for prime scoring chances.
Lamb was taken by the Rangers in the fourth round, 104th overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft. Had he not signed with the team by August, he would’ve become an unrestricted free agent.
The Rochester, Minn. native jumped onto the Blueshirts’ radar thanks to an impressive high school career at Dodge County, where he scored 87 points in 24 games as a senior in his draft year. He went on to play a year for the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League before joining the University of Minnesota.
While Lamb wasn’t one of the most highly-touted scorers on a Golden Gophers team that featured the likes of Logan Cooley, Jimmy Snuggerud and Oliver Moore, Lamb developed into an effective two-way winger on one of the top teams in the Big Ten for most of his NCAA career, with Minnesota winning at least a share of the Big Ten Regular Season championship in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
As a captain this season, the 22-year-old scored 14 goals and 16 assists for a career-high 30 points. However, the Gophers had one of their worst seasons in recent memory, going 11-22-3, losing to Gavin McKenna and the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten quarterfinals on Wednesday.
In 152 games at Minnesota, Lamb has scored 47 goals and 44 assists for 91 points.
