The New York Rangers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with veteran forward Luke Glendening, the club announced Thursday evening.

Glendening, 37, previously signed a professional tryout deal with the Rangers on Monday. According to PuckPedia, the 5’11” right-shot center is now signed to a one-way deal that carries a pro-rated $850,000 NHL cap hit for the rest of the 2026-27 season.

In 70 games split between the New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia Flyers during the 2025-26 NHL regular season, Glendening collected two goals and nine points while averaging 10:32 of ice time and winning 52.9 percent of his faceoffs. He added one goal in 10 games with the Flyers during the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

A product of Grand Rapids, Mich., Glendening went undrafted into the NHL but signed his first contract with the Detroit Red Wings in 2012 after wrapping up a successful four-year tenure at the University of Michigan.

Glendening helped the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins win the Calder Cup in 2013 before emerging as a regular with the Red Wings the following season and quickly establishing himself as one of the league’s foremost faceoff specialists. Across his 13 NHL seasons to date, Glendening has won a staggering 55.6 percent of his draws, topping out at 60.9 percent in 2020-21, his final season with the Red Wings.

Since leaving the Red Wings in 2021, Glendening has spent two seasons apiece with the Dallas Stars and Tampa Bay Lightning before splitting the 2025-26 campaign between New Jersey and Philadelphia. The Flyers claimed Glendening off waivers from the Devils on March 6, 2026.

In 934 career NHL games to date, Glendening has collected 85 goals, 175 points, and 316 penalty minutes; he’s added seven goals and 11 points in 60 playoff contests with Detroit, Dallas, Tampa Bay, and Philadelphia. He’ll now join a Rangers team looking to maintain its current momentum after a 7-3-1 start to the 2026-27 season.
