According to a report from Rick Dhaliwal, defenseman Noah Juulsen has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Dhaliwal reports that the one-way contract will come with a price tag of $900,000 to provide some depth and experience to Philadelphia’s blue line.

Juulsen has spent the past four seasons as a member of the Vancouver Canucks organization. In his 35 games at the NHL level this past year, he did not record a point while posting a minus-12 rating.

Selected by the Montreal Canadians with the No. 26 overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NHL entry draft, Juulsen has played career games, in which he has 3 goals, 14 assists and 17 points with 59 penalty minutes.

Standing at six-foot-two and at the age of 28, Juulsen will provide some size and experience for a Flyers blue line that is set to include Travis Sanheim, Rasmus Ristolainen, Nick Seeler, Jamie Drysdale, Yegor Zemula, and Emil Andrae, with Cam York a restricted free agent.

The Flyers have been one of the busier teams in the opening hour of free agency, as they reportedly have also signed another key player in center Christian Dvorak to a one-year contract.

Juulsen and Dvorak, a former Coyote should fit in seamlessly in Philadelphia with their old coach in Rick Tocchet behind the bench.

The Flyers are in the midst of a rebuilding process, as Daniel Briere has loaded the team up with draft capital, leading to a major prospect haul at the draft over the weekend.

But signings like this and that of Dvorak point toward a goal of being more competitive in 2025-2026, and hiring a veteran coach like Tocchet certainly points to a more aggressive mindset heading into the new season.
