Report: Michal Postava Recalled By Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are on a four-game road trip that began with a 4-3 shootout loss last night to the Kraken. Tonight the Grand Rapids Griffins, Detroit’s AHL affiliate faced the Manitoba Moose. The Griffins won the game with Trey Augustine called up.

Before the game, the Griffins signed Jamie Phillips to a PTO. Phillips backed up Augustine, which raised questions about where Postava is. After the Griffins’ 4-3 win over the Moose, head coach Dan Watson said Detroit is calling up Postava.

It’s not known if there’s an injury in Detroit. Daniil Tarasov got the start last night against the Kraken. John Gibson last played Saturday in the Red Wings’ 4-3 shootout win over the Sharks. 

Postava is having a great season. He’s 4-0-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage. He’s fourth in the AHL in goals-against average and fifth in save percentage; he leads in wins.

Postava has made 29 starts since joining the Red Wings organization. He’s 21-6-0 with a 1.65 goals-against average, a .939 save percentage, and four shutouts. He appeared in all eight playoff games for Grand Rapids last season. Postava went 4-4-0 with a 2.09 goals-against average, a .912 save percentage, and a shutout. 

The move will be official tomorrow according to Watson, so until then it’ll be a waiting game for Detroit.
