The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed newly acquired prospect Rutger McGroarty, according to PuckPedia, after acquiring him in an eye-popping trade with the Winnipeg Jets.
According to PuckPedia, the Penguins signed McGroarty to a three-year entry-level deal with a $950,000 salary cap hit. The AAV is $1.45 million including a $95,000 signing bonus and $500,000 in “A” performance bonuses.
McGroarty, who was better than a point-a-game winger last season with the University of Michigan, came to the Penguins Thursday in a trade of top prospects. The Penguins sent center Brayden Yager to the Jets. Turning pro means McGroarty can be expected to be in training camp with the Penguins.
The Penguins have not yet announced the trade or the signing.
