
The Philadelphia Flyers are signing forward Porter Martone to a three-year entry-level contract today. Martone and his Michigan State Spartans saw their season come to an end yesterday after they blew a 3-1 lead to the Wisconsin Badgers and they lost 4-3, 24 seconds into overtime with Wisconsin advancing to the Frozen Four. Martone had 50 points on 25 goals and 25 assists. He was a +24 with eight power-play goals and six game-winning goals. Martone is fourth in the country in points, tied for second in goals, and eighth in power-play goals.

The Philadelphia Flyers drafted Martone sixth overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old before joining the Spartans played in the OHL. He spent four seasons in the OHL playing in 178 games recording 204 points on 89 goals and 115 assists; he was a +34. In his first season, he played for the Sarnia Stings appearing in 29 games recording 13 points on six goals and seven assists; he was a minus-seven. He spent the next two seasons with the Mississauga Steelheads combining to play in 92 games recording 93 points on 46 goals and 47 assists; he was a +22. Martone was then the captain of the Brampton Steelheads where in 57 games he had 98 points on 37 goals and 61 assists; he was a +19. He also played in three games at the WJC where he scored a goal and was a plus-one.
