Reports: Devils acquire G Jake Allen from Canadiens

The New Jersey Devils acquired goaltender Jake Allen from the Montreal Canadiens on Friday in exchange for a conditional third-round pick, multiple media outlets reported.

The draft pick can be upgraded to the second round depending on the number of games played by Allen.

Allen, 33, posted a 6-12-3 record with a 3.65 goals-against average and .892 save percentage in 21 games this season. He is playing in the first season of a two-year, $7.7 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.

A Stanley Cup winner with St. Louis in 2019, Allen owns a 189-162-41 record with 24 shutouts, a 2.75 GAA and .908 save percentage in 416 career games with the Blues (2012-20) and Canadiens.

Earlier Friday, the Devils traded forward Tyler Toffoli to the Winnipeg Jets for a 2024 third-round draft pick and 2025 second-round pick.
