The Chicago Blackhawks announced on April 13 that they signed forward prospect Ryan Greene to an NHL entry-level contract. The signing follows Boston University's loss in the Frozen Four final as Western Michigan won 6-2 to take home the national title. Ryan Greene played three years with BU and produced 38 points in 40 games in his final year.

Greene was drafted in the second round in 2022 and was drafted with impressive puck-handling skills and a knack for setting up teammates for scoring chances. Greene's game has evolved into a two-way role as he impressed his BU coaching staff as a defensive player who has the ability to produce.
In Scott Powers' article on The Athletic, he hints that it seems like the Blackhawks organization might believe that Greene doesn't need any AHL time. Greene will make his debut during the Blackhawks' remaining two games and I think we'll have a better idea of how Greene adjusts. I wouldn't be surprised if he does spend any time in Rockford.
Greene projects to be a solid bottom-six player and joins a growing list of exciting prospects who could end up on the Blackhawks' future third line. The Blackhawks prospect pipeline is laying the foundations of a team that's built from the "back-out." The goalie situation seems comfortable, the blue line is promising, and the Blackhawks' future third line could be panning out. With Connor Bedard as your No. 1 center and Frank Nazar making a case for No. 2, the Blackhawks just need to hit on a star winger.
