Buffalo Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams says he is prepared to match any offer sheet for Bowen Byram as rumors about him being in trade discussions continue.
The Buffalo Sabres are arguably one of the worst-run teams in the entire NHL right now, and it is clear that they do not know how to handle their young talent.
Just last week, the team traded JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth, losing a potential star player who just had the best season of his career.
Its not like the team can afford to just give up on talented players like this.
After all, the team has struggled immensely on the ice, and last season was a step in the wrong direction.
The Sabres finished with a 36-39-7 record, extending their historic playoff drought to 14 years, and the end of that drought is still nowhere in sight.
Now the club could be on the verge of losing another young star as multiple teams are reportedly interested in trading for, and potentially offer-sheeting defenseman Bowen Byram.
According to NHL insider Darren Dreger, the Calgary Flames, Vegas Golden Knights, and St. Louis Blues are among the teams interested in Byram.
That being said, the Sabres seem to prefer to keep the 24-year-old.
According to Adams himself, the team is prepared to match any offer sheet he signs, which would also indicate that they are not particularly interested in trading him.
Byram is coming off a career year where he set highs in assists with 31 and points with 38.
It was also just the first time in his five-year career that he appeared in all 82 games.
Will it be his last season in Buffalo? Stay tuned to find out.
