
The Montreal Canadiens are going to face the Nashville Predators tonight. During practice yesterday Canadiens goalie Sam Montembeault suffered a lower-body injury. Montreal then recalled goalie Jacob Fowler from the Laval Rocket in the AHL. Fowler has tabbed to start tonight’s game against Nashville.

Fowler started both games last weekend for Laval against Syracuse. He went 1-1-0 with a 1.53 goals-against average, and a .945 save percentage. Montembeault has yet to start this season as Jakub Dobes has started all three games. Dobes is 1-1-1 with a 4.43 goals-against average, and an .856 save percentage.
The Canadiens drafted Fowler 69th overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut last season against the Penguins where he got the win stopping 36 of the 38 shots he faced in a 4-2 victory. Fowler finished the regular season going 9-6-2 with a 2.43 goals-against average, a .908 save percentage, and a shutout. The shutout came on December 20, 2025, against the Penguins in his fourth career NHL start. He appeared in one game in the playoffs allowing a goal on two shots.
Fowler has appeared in 32 games for the Rocket in the AHL. He’s 22-9-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average, a .918 save percentage, and three shutouts. In eight Calder Cup Playoff games he’s 3-3-0 with a 2.48 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage, and a shutout.
