One of the NHL’s struggling teams has received a jab from one of television’s most popular comedy shows.
During this week’s edition of Saturday Night Live on NBC , host and actor Miles Teller participated in a segment dubbed “NHL Cares,” where actors represented teams and discussed their fake charitable actions. The segment poked fun at the Nashville Predators‘ “Preds in the Community” outreach program the team had this past offseason.

Teller represented the Predators, with the segment using wordplay to bring up their charitable habits.
“I’m also a King in the community,” the first actor, wearing a Los Angeles Kings jersey, said.
“And I’m a Ranger in my community,” the New York Rangers player followed up.
“And I’m a Predator in my community,” Teller said. “And you see this face, just no predators in the community. Wait, wait, wait, wait, can we cut?”
The director in the scene questioned Teller’s problem with the line, even though it was clear that Teller’s character had a problem with the wording.
“What’s the issue, man?” The director questioned.
“Do I have to say that I’m a predator in my community?” Teller responded.
“Why not? You play for the Nashville Predators.”
Yeah, but, I mean, you hear how it sounds, right?”
“Okay, so it’s gonna be one of those shoots. Diva alert!”
The segment carried on as the liners became more and more disastrous, using a play on a different definition of predator, obviously not the intended purpose of the Predator nickname the franchise has used since its inception in 1998.
The Predators’ social media profile made a response, realizing that the skit was using the team as a punching bag.
“Wait, is this f— play about us?” the team posted on X in response.

The segment aired not long after Predators beat the Calgary Flames, 4-2, at Bridgestone Arena. Not exactly a welcoming experience for the visitors in the Music City.
