It's been over 15 years since Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley were in the same building together.
That changes next month.
On Monday, the Ottawa Senators announced that Alfredsson, Spezza and Heatley will reunite for the first time in over a decade next month. First reported by Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun, the trio's reunion will take place when the Detroit Red Wings visit the Canadien Tire Centre on Dec. 5.
It's been a long time coming for a Senators fanbase that was dazzled by the Heatley-Spezza-Alfredsson line following the 2004-05 NHL lockout. Known as "The Pizza Line," the trio gave an endless number of headaches to opponents as they racked up 435 goals and 1,057 points together from 2005 to 2009.

The trio earned the "Pizza Line" nickname due to their impressive goal-scoring aways. During the line's time together, a local pizza chain awarded fans with a free slice if the Senators scored five or more goals. It didn't take long for the promotion to require six goals due to the amount of offense that Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson generated each night.
The "Pizza Line" era ended in 2009, though, when Heatley was traded to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Milan Michalek, Jonathan Cheechoo, and a 2010 second-round pick. The remaining duo didn't stick around in Ottawa for much longer after that as Alfredsson left as a free agent in 2013 before Spezza was traded to the Dallas Stars in 2014.
It's been 10 years since any of the "Pizza Line" members played for the Senators, making it easy to see why fans are pumped for next month's reunion.
Since taking over as the franchise's owner in 2023, Michael Andlauer has done a good job at repairing with Senators alumni. Several of Ottawa's past players had issues with former owner Eugene Melnyk and the "Pizza Line" reunion is just Andlauer's latest attempt to restore faith between the team and fans.
The Senators owner's attempts have paid off so far, including when Alfredsson was brought in as a coach last season. Meanwhile, Spezza is currently the Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager while Heatley was hired to scout for the Philadelphia Flyers last year.
It'll be interesting to see what the Senators have in store for their fans when the "Pizza Line" reunites on Dec. 5. No matter what happens, though, Ottawa fans are thrilled that they can properly celebrate the franchise's best line after 15 long years.
