Senators sign Olle Lycksell to one-year, two-way contract

The Ottawa Senators signed Olle Lycksell to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2025-26 season, which will be worth $775,000 in the NHL, $450,000 in the AHL and guaranteed to be at least $500,000.

Both TSN’s Darren Dreyer and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman confirmed the deals.

Lycksell spent the 2024-25 season with the Philadelphia Flyers and their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. In the NHL, he recorded five assists in 19 regular-season games. In the AHL, he scored 19 goals and 25 assists for 44 points in 43 regular-season games. He also scored two goals and four assists for six points in seven AHL playoff games.

In 45 career NHL games, Lycksell, a native of Oskarshamn, Sweden, has a goal and 10 assists for 11 points. In 134 career AHL games, he’s recorded 52 goals and 76 assists for 128 points. He’s also recorded five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 16 AHL playoff games.

Taken by the Flyers in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Lycksell spent a number of years in Sweden’s junior and professional system. In five seasons with Sweden’s top domestic league, he scored 42 goals and 53 assists for 95 points in 221 regular-season games with Linkopings HC, Farjestads BK Carlsbad and Vaxjo HC.

The Senators finished the 2024-25 regular season with a 45-30-7 record and 97 points, fourth in the Atlantic Division and clinching the No. 1 Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, their first playoff birth since the 2016-17 season. Ottawa was eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in six games by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
