The Rocket series kicks off tonight.
The Canadiens’ training club is in Cleveland for the first two games of their series against the Monsters, and Jacob Fowler will have the job of guarding the Rocket cage.
Cayden Primeau has been recalled and is currently with the CH.
But even though Fowler doesn’t have much pro experience – he’s only played three games in the AHL so far – his teammates and coach have every confidence in him.
Pascal Vincent, Lucas Condotta and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard all say the same thing: they’re not worried about Fowler.
The players and coaches know that Fowler has the talent to help the team. And they feel he’s ready to face the music:
“I’m not worried about him, not for a second!”

Just a few weeks ago, we wondered how many starts Jacob Fowler would get in the AHL, with Primeau and Hughes in Laval.
Now he’s in the spotlight for the Rocket’s playoff debut. https://t.co/DZaAmAgmGh

The guys weren’t going to plant it publicly, we understand. But you can really sense in their comments that the team has confidence in Jacob Fowler, even though he’s never played in the playoffs at the professional level.
That said, Fowler joined the Rocket at the beginning of April and didn’t have too much trouble performing well in his first AHL games.
His performance was truly respectable at the end of the regular season:
The goalie is also coming off a big college season, and that’s going to help his confidence. The time is right for him to prove himself at a more important point in the season, and if the words of his team-mates are anything to go by, it should go well.
It will also be interesting to see Pascal Vincent’s decisions when Cayden Primeau returns to the Rocket.
If Fowler is smoking by the time Primeau returns, maybe that’ll force Laval’s hand… because in reality, the 25-year-old goalie deserves the opportunity to play with his dominant season in Laval.
It’s something to keep an eye on.
