Several Flames prospects are impressing early in the 2025-26 campaign
Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

Folks, we’re well into the month of October and the vast, vast majority of the Calgary Flames prospects have begun their regular seasons. The lone exception is Aidan Lane, who’s at Harvard and part of a cluster of six Ivy League teams that start in late October.

But so far, we’ve seen a few pretty impressive performances that are worth singling out. In Canadian juniors, both Jacob Battaglia and Hunter Laing are scoring at just over a point-per-game clip. They also have four college prospects scoring at a point-per-game or better: Trevor Hoskin, Jaden Lipinski, Henry Mews and Ethan Wyttenbach.

Over in the AHL, the Wranglers have their home-opener series this coming weekend and they clash with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, the team that’s knocked them out of the playoffs three years in a row. To say that these teams don’t really like each other is an understatement and it should be a fun couple of games.

Let’s do our weekly statistical check-in with the prospects!

Andrew Basha – LW/RW, Calgary Wranglers, AHL

19; Calgary’s second round pick (41st overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft; 5’11”, 174 pounds; shoots left; FN’s 8th-ranked prospect 2025
