The Philadelphia Flyers started the season with mixed results. The campaign has barely begun, but there are already rumors that they could lose a defenseman.

The team of Rick Tocchet has a record of 2-2-1, adding five points and positioning itself sixth in the Metropolitan Division.

On Saturday, the Flyers defeated the Minnesota Wild 2-1 and will try to continue on the winning track on Monday against the Seattle Kraken at the Wells Fargo Center.

It has recently been rumored that Philadelphia's defender Emil Andrae could change teams, and a report has confirmed this trend, citing the team that could host him.

Sharks Named as Potential Suitors for Flyers' Emil Andrae

NHL reporter David Pagnotta recently claimed that the San Jose Sharks are looking to incorporate young talent for their defense and linked them with Andrae, 23.

"I think the overall goal for San Jose is to find a way to bring in young talent on that backend. Emil Andrae out of Philly…I think that fits the mold," Pagnotta said.

Andrae is a mobile and skilled player, which coincides with the profile the Sharks are looking for to add young talent on the blue line. Furthermore, he can be stashed in the AHL because he is exempt from waivers.

The Sharks currently have several UFAs and could move them as rentals. As such, they do not need to send a UFA to Philadelphia to sign Andrae, but an immediate need operation due to the injury of Rasmus Ristolainen could facilitate a trade.

In San Jose, players like Sam Dickinson, Dmitry Orlov, Shakir Mukhamadullin, Jack Thompson, Luca Cagnoni, and Vincent Iorio are projected to be part of the defense in the future, and Andrae could add internal competition if he arrives.

Andrae is entering the third year of his $2.71 million deal with a cap hit of $900K.
