Gaudette suffered the injury during the team’s game against the Minnesota Wild this past Sunday. It has yet to be specified what exactly is ailing the 29-year-old, but he registered just 6:39 of ice time across eight shifts in the game, and didn’t come out with the team during the third period. He delivered a hit and finished with a plus/minus of +1.
The Sharks still pulled out a 6-5 overtime win.
Per the NHL’s IR rules, the Braintree, Mass. native must remain out of the lineup for at least seven days. Presuming that his placement is retroactive to this past Sunday, he could return next Wednesday, when the Sharks visit the Seattle Kraken.
Gaudette had appeared in each of the Sharks’ first nine games of the 2025-26 season, despite battling illness a few games ago. He has scored three goals and an assist for four points, scoring in back-to-back games last week. Gaudette has a -3 rating while averaging 10:42 of ice time thus far.
Gaudette signed a two-year contract with the Sharks this past offseason, with the deal carrying a cap hit of $2 million through the 2026-27 season. It followed a fruitful 2024-25 campaign with the Ottawa Senators. In 81 games in Canada’s capital, he scored a career-high 19 goals and a +12 rating, finishing with 26 points, helping the Sens clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time in eight years.
In 310 NHL regular-season games, which included stops with the St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks, Gaudette has scored 49 goals and 51 assists for 100 points, with three points in 16 postseason contests.
The Sharks (2-6-2) are scheduled to host the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night.
