When exactly Mukhamadullin got hurt, or the nature of the injury, is currently unknown.
In 22 games played this season, Mukhamadullin has two goals and four assists for six points while averaging just under 17 minutes of ice time.
The Ufa, Russia native has already missed significant time this season with an upper-body injury, and more recently had a lower-body injury he was abe to play through. It’s unclear if Saturday’s injury is at all related to those previous ailments.
The New Jersey Devils initially selected Mukhamadullin 20th overall from the KHL’s Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. After two-plus years continuing to play in the KHL, along with a brief three-game stint for the AHL’s Utica Comets during their 2022 playoff run, Mukhamadullin was traded to the Sharks in February of 2023 as part a multi-piece package sent in exchange for forward Timo Meier.
Mukhamadullin was assigned to the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda following the trade and impressed immediately, putting up a goal and nine assists for 10 points in just 12 games at the tail end of the 2022-23 season. In the 2023-24 season, he played 55 games for the Barracuda and notched seven goals and 27 assists for 34 points. He got his first extended look at the NHL level last season, when he registered two goals and seven assists for nine points in 30 games for the Sharks.
San Jose will try to shake off Saturday’s loss when they finish up a three-game home stand against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, before hitting the road to face the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.
