The San Jose Sharks announced on Thursday that they have signed defenseman Philip Sinn to a two-year, entry-level contract. At 22, Sinn had already made his mark in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Last season, he suited up for 35 games for EHC München in Germany’s Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), putting up three points (one goal, two assists) while also gaining valuable experience on loan with ESV Kaufbeuren in the second-tier DEL2, where he added four assists in seven games.
He also featured in 11 postseason games for München, who reached the semifinals in the 2025-26 DEL season, and among U22 defensemen across the league, he tied for sixth in scoring, leading all young blueliners on the team, in his debut campaign.
On the international stage, Sinn has been a consistent presence for Germany. He skated in five games at the 2026 World Championship, and before that, he made back-to-back appearances at the World Junior Championship in 2023 and 2024, racking up a combined seven points (two goals, five assists) in ten games. In 2024, his teammates and coaches trusted him enough to hand him the captaincy.
“Phillip is a young defenseman who has experience playing high-level hockey and competing against some of the best players in the world in international competition,” said Sharks’ GM Mike Grier. “We are happy to have him in our organization as he continues to develop.”
Sinn, who is 6-foot-2 and 194 pounds, is expected to start the 2026-27 campaign with the organization’s American Hockey League affiliate, San Jose Barracuda.
