Team Canada and several hockey fans were given a major scare when Sidney Crosby missed the last two games for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Luckily, for them he is ‘good to go’ and will participate in the upcoming 4 Nations Face Off.
Crosby was named as Canada’s captain ahead of stars Connor McDavid and Cale Makar. However, his participation in the event and the chance to lead his nation as the captain again were left hanging in balance after he got sidelined recently.
The Penguins captain suffered a major blow during the game against the New Jersey Devils on February 4. He got involved in a collision defenseman Luke Hughes and forward Erik Haula midway through the third period.
The veteran forward would favor his left arm after this incident. He though did return to the action and competed in the shootout which they lost.
On Monday night, Crosby finally broke his silence regarding this. As the reporters asked whether he will be playing in the tournament or not, the 37-year-old simply nodded his head and said, “Yeah”.

As per stats provided by the NHL, Canada have not lost a tournament game with Crosby in their line-up for almost 15 years. Their last defeat with Crosby in the line-up was the 5-3 preliminary round defeat against the United States in Vancouver at the 2010 Winter Games.
In that process, they won 25 games including two gold medals in 2010 and 2014. Apart from that, they were also victorious at the 2015 IIHF World Hockey Championship and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Once again they are the heavy favorites to win an international tournament.
When Sidney Crosby scored the golden goal to win the gold medal at Vancouver Games, Seth Jarvis was just 8 years old. Now he finds himself sitting next to a future Hall of Fame. On Monday night, the Carolina Hurricanes reflected on this huge moment for him.
Speaking to the media, the 23-year-old forward used the word “Surreal” to define the moment of him sitting beside Crosby.
Surreal. I mean, when he scored the golden goal that won Canada the gold medal against the U.S. at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, I was 8 years old attending a friend’s birthday party in Winnipeg.
Seth Jarvis said as per NHL.com
To make matter more interesting for him, Connor McDavid was also sitting beside him. So Jarvis found himself between two of the team leaders. He would call it the “ Best seat in the house“.
The Carolina Hurricanes would later join in the fun. They would repost a tweet and write, “Sid and Connor are so lucky,” in reference to Seth Jarvis sitting beside them.
