Sidney Crosby Nears Historic Mark Against Flyers

Over the nearly two decades of his career, Sidney Crosby has always elevated his game against some of the Pittsburgh Penguins biggest rivals.

When the Penguins take on the Philadelphia Flyers, it’s almost a guarantee Crosby will do something spectacular.

Crosby has been so dominant over the cross-state rivals that he sits on the edge of history.

All Crosby needs is one more point and he will become the sole leader of points by a single player against the Flyers.

With 124 points, Crosby is currently tied with Mario Lemieux atop a leader board that also features Jaromir Jagr (120), Bryan Trottier (117), and Wayne Gretzky (100).

Crosby’s 124 points come in 84 games played against the Flyers organization and are the result of 53 goals an 71 assists.

That goal total is already the all-time leader in goals against the Flyers’ franchise.

The Penguins’ captain sat on this milestone heading into the first matchup against the Flyers this season but was held without a point.

The battle now shifts to Philadelphia where Crosby always seems to hit another level.

While Crosby is the all-time goals leader, and soon to be points leader against the Flyers, he needs just two more assists to lead that category, as well.

Ever since 2005, Crosby has brought his game to new levels against the Flyers and that won’t be slowing down any time soon.
