Sidney Crosby made history again Monday night in Pittsburgh as the veteran forward joined an elite group of NHL scorers in a 6–3 win over the St. Louis Blues.

The 21-season veteran recorded a goal and two assists to become just the ninth player in league history to reach 1,700 career points, scoring all of them for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Crosby's performance moved him past Mario Lemieux (497) for the most multi-point games in Penguins history with 498 and put him just 22 points shy of Lemieux’s all-time franchise record.

The Penguins center hit the 1,700th point of his career by assisting on a Bryan Rust goal. Crosby’s third point came late in the third period when he finished a breakaway to put the game out of reach.

The Pens fans in attendance cheered for their legend at PPG Paints Arena, but Crosby himself declined to dwell on the moment afterward because of the incidident that took place during the first period of Monday's game.

According to the Penguins, "an adult male fell from the upper concourse to the lower bowl at PPG Paints Arena." The person was immediately treated by arena staff and transported to a nearby hospital. No further updates on his condition were available.

“I just want to say we just found out that someone fell tonight, so doesn’t feel right to be talking about points when you hear something like that,” Crosby said postgame. “We just found out, so obviously our thoughts and prayers are with that person and their family. Hoping that they’re OK.”

This marked the third serious fall at a Pittsburgh sporting venue this year, following similar incidents at Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park in recent months.

“It feels kind of weird talking about hockey when something like that kind of happens,” Crosby said. “The reception’s always been great. I’ve been fortunate since the day I got here… I always appreciate that.”

The Penguins (7-2-1) wil face the Philadelphia Flyers (4-3-1) on Tuesday, with puck drop set for 6 p.m. ET.
