The Dallas Stars were run out of the building in Game 3, dropping their second straight game to the Edmonton Oilers. After taking Game 1 in dramatic style, the Stars have allowed the Oilers to do pretty much whatever they want on the ice.
The final score of Game 3 was 6-1, as the Oilers sent their fans into a frenzy. But Stars head coach Peter DeBoer didn't see the game as too alarming.
DeBoer had some interesting comments on the game, specifically noting that he believes his team played well.
“Tonight, we were without our No. 1 center, we were on the road here in a tough environment. I thought we played a really good hockey game for a good stretch of that game,” DeBoer said. “So, there’s nothing to get emotional or upset about. I think you have to be realistic with your group.
“I liked our compete tonight, I liked a lot of parts of our game, and we’ve got to build on that and hopefully get Roope Hintz back and get back in this series.”
The Stars' offense was limited once again as Oilers goalie Stuart Skinner shut them down. Skinner has now only allowed one goal over the last two games, and he seems to be settling into a nice rhythm.
If Dallas wants to get back into this series, it will need to get back to the basics. The team needs to generate more scoring chances and not allow the Oilers to get ahead of the defenders so easily.
Edmonton has exposed them throughout and is on the verge of taking a commanding lead in the matchup.
Game 4 between the two sides is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET.
