Forward Dylan Hryckowian’s first call-up with the Dallas Stars will be short-lived. According to a team announcement, the Stars have returned Hryckowian to the AHL’s Texas Stars.
Hryckowian, teammate Justin Hryckowian’s younger brother, will return to the AHL after two games with Dallas. Unfortunately, Hryckowian went scoreless in both contests, with a -1 rating and averaged 9:00 of ice time per game. Still, he registered a solid 53.8% CorsiFor at even strength, albeit in limited action.
Although he will likely return to the NHL in the near future, the Stars simply need additional depth elsewhere. Earlier this morning, head coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed that defenseman Kyle Capobianco got an MRI after suffering a leg injury in last night’s contest against the New Jersey Devils (per NHL’s Robert Tiffin). According to Tiffin, Gulutzan said, “I don’t think it’s 6 to 8 weeks here, but I would say he’s gonna be out a week here, for sure.”
Already down to six defensemen on the active roster, Dallas needed to open up space to recall another defenseman. Veteran Kyle Burroughs is the likeliest candidate, since he’s one of the few blue liners on AHL Texas with NHL experience.
Additionally, optimism is growing that Sam Steel will return to the lineup tomorrow, negating the need for additional forward depth. Steel has missed the Stars’ previous two contests due to an undisclosed injury. He has registered one goal and three points in 10 games this season.
