The Breadman will deliver for Rangers tonight

We head to the ice on this fine Tuesday and load us up with a trio of goal-scorers, opting for a touch of simplicity. A few teams have been circled that look the best for scoring, and we've found the players who have racked up a steady stream of prior success against the night's opponents.

Give us some goals

Artemi Panarin of the Rangers is first up. New York should have no issue scoring against Columbus tonight. The Blue Jackets are allowing 5.3 goals per game on the road over their past 10 games, while the Rangers are scoring 4.3/game at home in the same stretch. With New York looking to push Carolina and New Jersey in the Metropolitan Division, there's no worry on our end that they take the night off against a weaker opponent.

Panarin used to be a member of Columbus, and he's certainly enjoyed finding the back of the net against his former team. He's tallied four goals in his last four games against the Blue Jackets, a history we'd very much like to follow. He has three goals in his last three at home.

Betting: Artemi Panarin goal (+195 CZR)

Elias Pettersson and the Vancouver Canucks figure to be in an enviable spot this evening against the lowly Blues. St. Louis has allowed 3.5 goals per game in the past 20 days, and those defensive lapses have remained paramount at home. A factor in their struggling defense has been penalties, and in slots Pettersson, the power play shot leader for the Canucks.

Pettersson is fresh off a seven-shot effort, scoring twice. He has come alive on the road, scoring in eight of his last 11 games away from Vancouver. This includes a meeting in St. Louis a month ago, a game that saw Pettersson uncork 10 SOG, scoring once. He has three goals in his past two meetings with the Blues and all signs point to another nice outing here tonight.

Betting: Elias Pettersson goal (+140 FD)

Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars will wrap our night's looks. Chicago hardly scares us, allowing the 10th-most goals per game in the past 20 days and the eighth-most on the season. The clear deficiency comes in the form of killing penalties, and Benn has been one of the most effective PP scorers for Dallas.

Benn has a goal in 16 of his last 30 games, a hit rate that should not then yield us odds at +200. With some value here, it's Benn vs. Chicago that makes this a must-play for us. Benn has scored in four straight games against the Blackhawks, twice on the power play. Let's make it five in a row, shall we?

Betting: Jamie Benn goal (+200 DK)

Outlier Trend of the Day

The Tampa Bay Lightning are 176-73-12 (67%) off a loss over their last 261 games.

Tampa moneyline (+120 MGM)

In the news ...

Women's Final Four set — South Carolina took down Maryland last night, improving to 36-0 on the season. The Gamecocks now head to a star-studded matchup against Iowa and Caitlin Clark. Iowa are +11.5 underdogs, and we're sorry but we're going to be sprinkling on that given how dominant Clark has been. On the other end, Virginia Tech has advanced to its first Final Four, taking down Ohio State in the process. The Hokies will be tasked with getting past an LSU team that has a smothering and dominant defense. We prefer LSU at -1.5.

MLB Opening Day Thursday — The MLB season is almost here, astoundingly enough. The MVP favorites are Shohei Ohtani (+190) out of the AL and Juan Soto (+550) from the NL. The Cy Young favorites are Jacob deGrom (+550) in the American League and Sandy Alcantara (+450) from the National League. The World Series favorites are Houston (+600) and Atlanta/NY Yankees (+750). For a detailed dive into the divisions and various future props, Yardbarker's own Jared Shlensky has been hard at work breaking it all down.
