The NHL is known to make limited edition items overpriced but the price for a Chicago Blackhawks jacket has led to backlash online from fans.
Every year, the NHL plays a few games outdoors, and this year the Winter Classic will be held at Wrigley Field in Chicago. With the game happening Tuesday, the NHL is looking to capitalize on the event in every way possible.
However, this looks as if it may have backfired as the NHL is charging an insane amount for a limited edition Chicago Blackhawks leather jacket.
Pete Blackburn of the What Chaos Show posted a picture of the Blackhawks Winter Classic Jacket online and asked fans to guess how much it ran for.
He later revealed that the jacket cost $1,000 USD before tax. Simply absurd.
While this will be the jacket that Blackhawks coach Anders Sorenson will be wearing, $1,000 is an exorbitant amount for a single jacket.
It is common to see prices get higher and higher for fans as tickets, jerseys and other merchandise have only grown over time. However, an item that costs this much is a hard pill to swallow.
Hopefully, the NHL can make steps in the coming years to make games more affordable for fans, as it is a shame that so many people's favorite pastime has now become a financial burden.
