The Dallas Stars are stepping into the world of esports as they team up with OpTic Gaming for a one-of-a-kind Video Game Night during the 2025-26 NHL season.

The collaboration will take place on March 6 at the American Airlines Center, bringing together hockey fans and the massive gaming community in a way that's never been done before in Dallas.

The event will feature co-branded Stars and OpTic Gaming jerseys, giving fans a collectible piece of history from the unique partnership. While full details are still under wraps, the announcement has already created a buzz in both hockey and esports circles.

As Sports Illustrated reported, this marks the first time the two organizations have joined forces at this scale.

OpTic Gaming and the Dallas Stars connect sports and esports in a bold collaboration

OpTic Gaming, based in Frisco, has a strong history of partnering with local teams. Just last year, the Texas Rangers hosted an OpTic-themed night at Globe Life F ield that featured owner Hector "H3CZ" Rodriguez throwing the first pitch and the team wearing green-accented jerseys.

They also previously partnered with the Dallas Sidekicks indoor soccer team.

The timing is perfect, as OpTic Texas has been riding a wave of success. Their Call of Duty roster captured the Esports World Cup, while their Halo squad dominated events like the Arlington Major.

"It's a way to celebrate both esports and traditional sports fans," one Stars executive explained. Another gaming insider noted, "These partnerships are about reaching younger audiences and making pro sports feel more connected to the digital era."

Personally, I think this collaboration makes sense, especially with both organizations being rooted in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

It shows the Stars are open to innovation while celebrating a growing esports culture.
