For 52 minutes, it seemed like the Boston Bruins were going to spoil the party for Buffalo Sabres fans watching their first Stanley Cup Playoff game in 15 years.
Then, the NHL’s fifth-highest scoring offense came to life in front of more than 19,000 rabid fans at the KeyBank Center. Tage Thompson scored twice in less than four minutes to tie the game at 2 for Buffalo before Mattias Samuelsson put the Sabres ahead 52 seconds later.
Alex Tuch added an empty netter for Buffalo and David Pastrnak scored on the power play for Boston with eight seconds remaining to give the Sabres a 4-3 win and 1-0 lead in the series. With the win, the Sabers also became the first Stanley Cup Playoff team to rally from a two-goal deficit and win in regulation with less than eight minutes left on the clock.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Thompson posted his third-career 40-goal season in 2025-26. With that being said, can you name the most recent 40-goal scorer for each NHL franchise?
Good luck!
