The Los Angeles Kings Sign Depth Forward

The Los Angeles Kings are making moves during this of-fseason. Today, they announced depth forward Joel Armia has signed with the team.

Kings Sign Armia

Armia is a former St. John’s Ice Caps alumni, having applied his craft in the AHL before making the leap. Now looking at it, through 11 NHL seasons, he has more than established himself as a reliable depth forward. In fact, he was recognized as such when he suited up for Team Finland in the exciting 2025 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.

He’s never been a big scorer, as his career-high of 30 points came back in second season with Montreal. That year was an outlier for Armia, as he was over 17 minutes a game. He’s been more of a 15-minute-a-game guy, as has been the case the past three seasons in Montreal. At 6’3” and 216 lbs Armia combines an element of size and skill with smarts. He is a great depth signing.

Bottom Line is What Does this Signing Mean

This signing of Joel Armia adds depth to a Kings lineup that just added Corey Perry. The Kings are looking to build a team capable of making a run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Armia will do a great job of using his speed and size when it comes to post-season play. He’s never been a big producer, so that’s not why he is being added. Assuming there’s time to find chemistry for him and his new linemates, he could chip in offensively down the stretch and on into springtime hockey.
