With Alexander Ovechkin’s contract set to run out this offseason, the fact he’s turning 41 in September and the Washington Capitals missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, there were rumblings his NHL career might be over.
But Capitals fans will get to watch the NHL’s all-time leading scorer for at least one more season after Ovechkin agreed to a one-year contract worth up to $9 million for the 2026-27 season.
Playing in his 21st NHL season, Ovechkin managed to play in all 82 games for the first time since 2017-18, scoring 32 goals and adding 32 assists.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Ovechkin surpassed Wayne Gretzky on the NHL all-time scoring list in the 2024-25 season and currently has 929 under his belt. With that being said, how many of the NHL’s all-time leaders in goals scored can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
